The 2010 Tour is highlighted by return visits to many of the top tracks in the Midwest, a return to some outstanding venues that have hosted MLRA events in previous seasons, and a minimum of 5 races that pay at least $5,000 to win.

The $6,000 to win Bud Purkey Memorial kicks things off on March 19th and 20th at the Mid-America Motor Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma in a race co-promoted by defending MLRA Champion Al Purkey. Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, Nebraska makes it's first of five appearances on the schedule on April 3rd while the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks", Lucas Oil Speedway starts their 2010 season off with the MLRA and their outstanding A-Mods on Saturday night April 10th.

The month of May gets underway on May 15th as the Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri once again hosts the cars and stars of the MLRA for some classic door to door short track action. Teams then travel from the bullring at Nevada to the super fast 1/2 mile Sedalia State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri on Friday night, May 21st. Current MLRA drivers, Jason Bodenhamer and Reid Millard have taken over the promotion of the Sedalia speedplant in 2010 and have many exciting new events on their 2010 schedule. On Saturday night, May 22nd, the MLRA makes it's first visit in several seasons to the Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas which is now under the direction of the Conkwright family for 2010.

The biggest weekend of the season takes place on May 27th-29th as the 18th Annual Show-Me 100 moves to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri in 2010 and will be co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA for the first time. The event is a Nationally Televised Event and will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil MLRA. Reserved Tickets are on sale now by calling (417) 282-5984. Drivers hardly have time to catch their breath however as the traditional $5,000 to win Alphabet Soup race wraps up the holiday weekend on Sunday night May 30th in Greenwood, Nebraska at I-80 Speedway.

The 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri appears on the schedule on June 12th. Sedalia's State Fair Speedway makes it's second appearance of the season on Friday night, June 25th followed by a first time visit by the MLRA to the new Springfield Raceway on Saturday night June 26th for the $3,000 to win John Kuntz Memorial.

The Independence Day weekend has the MLRA traveling north to the Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, NE for the Midwest Tri-fecta on Friday night July 2nd followed by the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Saturday night July 3rd. The fifth of five visits of 2010 to the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska happens on Sept. 25th.

One of the biggest weekends of the year is the Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown at Lakeside Speedway just off Wolcott Drive in Kansas City, Kansas. This huge annual event takes place in conjunction with the Kansas Speedway NASCAR weekend on Oct. 1st and 2nd. These pair of stand alone shows pay $3,000 and $5,000 to win respectively and last year hosted such top stars as Clint Bowyer and Dale McDowell along with the top drivers of the MLRA. The MLRA congratulates Coffeyville, Kansas' Al Purkey for capturing the 2009 MLRA Championship. The title was Al's Sixth MLRA Championship of his career breaking a tie for the most all time as Belton, Missouri's Alan Vaughn has five to his credit. Purkey topped defending MLRA Champion John Anderson by just 10 points in the season long battle.

Anderson went into Lakeside Speedway in early October with a seemingly comfortable 58 point lead but mechanical difficulties allowed the tenacious Purkey to close the gap with the final showdown set for Nevada Speedway on Sunday night October 18th. Anderson went on to win the race but Purkey stayed glued to his bumper crossing the line in second wrapping up the title. Purkey was consistent all season winning the Championship despite not scoring a single MLRA feature win in 2009. Purkey did however score 13 Top-5's enroute to the Championship with a lowest finish of 22nd at the State Fair Speedway on August 23rd as a broken RR axle sidelined him after contending for the win earlier in the race. Please visit www.BillKoonsRacing.com for information on the Al Purkey Racing Team.

Purkey's Bill Koon's owned Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Billy's Cafes, Purkey's Auto Salvage, Taylormade Performance, Integra Racing Shocks, Duralite Racing Wheels, and VP Racing Fuel.

Archie, Missouri's Matt Johnson captured the 2009 O'Reilly MLRA Rookie of the Year by virtue of his 7th place finish in the final points standings. Matt ran like a veteran all season earning the respect of his fellow competitors and the admiration of the fans. Matt ran as high as third in the last race at Nevada and was going to be a threat for the win before mechanical gremlins intervened.
Matt began his career in 2001 running a Sreet Stock at the Adrian Speedway the day before his high school graduation. He quickly progressed into Open Wheel modifieds winning the Adrian Speedway Track Championship in 2004. Matt ran a GRT by Phillips in '09 with a Scott Bailey Racing Engine under the hood. Sponsors include Mazzio's Pizza in Harrisonville, Sherwood Heating and Cooling, T-Bones Car Wash, All-State Electric, and Daniel Turner Excavating.
