Wheatland, Missouri (June 1, 2021) – For the second weekend in a row, the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) will take to the track for a critical three race stretch. Action will venture into three states with a total of $18,000 on the line to win over the course of the weekend. Racing will get underway on Thursday night June 3rd at the Maquoketa Speedway, followed by the series first ever stop at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Action concludes on Saturday at the Deer Creek Speedway located in Spring Valley, MN.

Maquoketa SpeedwayThursday nights one and only trip of the year to the Maquoketa Speedway, located on the Jackson county Fairgrounds in Maquoketa, Iowa, will mark the series third all-time stop at the 3/8 mile semi-banked oval. One year ago Chris Simpson topped a field of 36 competitors in picking up the win over Bobby Pierce and Dennis Erb Jr. The win was Simpson’s fourteenth all time under the MLRA banner. Thursday nights winner will walk away with $3,000 in the event being promoted by Drt Trak Promotions Inc.

Mississsippi Thunder SpeedwayThe Mississippi Thunder Speedway (MTS) located just north of Fountain City, Wisconsin will host the MLRA on Friday night June 4th. The 13th Annual RiverCity Rumble will take center stage on the big 1/3-mile speedway where drivers will battle it out in the $10,000 to win main event, which will also pay $500 to start. The state-of-the-art facility has long been known for its great modified racing but in recent years has also showcased many of the nation’s top late model touring series.

One drive especially excited for the MLRA’s inaugural stop at MTS is 2021 Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year Contender Jake Timm. The driver of the MBCustom Chassis enters the weekend 6th in the MLRA standings and 2nd in the ROY chase, only 40 points behind current ROY leader Mason Oberkramer.

With one non-MLRA late model win already under his belt this year and a recent 7th place run at MTS with the World of Outlaws, Timm will be looking to close the gap in the standings and more importantly to grab his first MLRA victory. “I know my way around that place (MTS) better than any other track I have ever been to by far,” commented Timm. “I like to say I can drive it with my eyes closed, so I am definitely real confident about racing there on Friday night.”

With over ten years of weekly racing experience on his home track the former USMTS Modified winner said he also expects the racing action to be top notch, especially with $10,000 up for grabs. “It races really good", he said of the track. “The corners are wide and really sweeping and high banked. You can pretty much race on it everywhere and anywhere all the time. If you can, you can throw sliders because it’s so wide--it can get pretty dicey”, he concluded.

Deer Creek SpeedwayThe weekend trifecta of action will conclude on Saturday night June 5th, when the series returns to the famed Deer Creek Speedway located in Spring Valley, Minnesota. The MLRA’s only prior stop at the high banked 3/8-mile clay oval came back in 2016, when Jesse Stovall cruised to victory on the way to capturing the series championship. Saturday nights event will pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start and is expected to also serve as the final tune-up opportunity for many drivers before the annual Gopher 50 weekend June 25th – 26th. This year’s Gopher 50 will be co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil MLRA.

Tony Jackson Jr. comes into the weekend still leading the way in the Midwest Sheet Metal Points standings for 2021. Jackson who scored the opening night win back in April at the I-80 Speedway has been a model of consistency thus far. Garrett Alberson is trying to bring car owner Ken Roberts his second consecutive championship following in the footsteps of teammate Jeremiah Hurst who accomplished the feat in 2020. Alberson holds down the second spot while Arroyo Grande, CA driver Jason Papich maintains the third position just 20 markers behind Alberson.

Chad Simpson scored an impressive win this past weekend in the Midwest Sheet Metal “Show-Me Challenge” to race his way into the 29th Annual Show-Me 100. The Mt. Vernon, IA driver finished fourth one year ago at Maquoketa and also snagged a pair of back-to-back wins at Mississippi Thunder worth a combined $7,000. With his recent success and last year’s track record this could be a strong weekend for team 25.
