Winston Speedway sweep to Al Purkey

O'Reilly MLRA points
leader Al Purkey stepped closer to picking up championship
number five as he grabbed win number four on the season and
also picked up the season sweep at Winston Speedway on Saturday
night.
Purkey started
on the pole for the thirty lap main event and quickly jumped
out front and held on through two cautions periods to take
the win ahead of championship rival Alan Vaughn. John Anderson
picked up his best 2006 O'Reilly MLRA finish coming home third
with David Turner and Chris Smyser rounding out the top five.
Purkey, Turner,
Anderson, and Smyser picked up heat race wins in the 31 car
field with Corey Zeitner copping the B feature victory.
After a week off
the O'Reilly MLRA 2006 Thunder Tour will kick into high gear
for one of the biggest racing weekends in the Kansas City
area. Action kicks off on Thursday, September 28, with the
4th Annual Al Bodenhamer Memorial at Adrian Speedway followed
up by two nights at Lakeside Speedway, on Friday and Saturday,
for the Capital Federal Late Model Showdown September 29 &
30.
