MLRA Checkers to Vaughn at Outlaw Motor Speedway
Alan Vaughn
rolled into the beautiful Outlaw Motor Speedway looking to
not only notch another win on the 2004 O'Reilly MLRA tour,
but to also close the book on his fourth title run with the
series. As the checkered flag fell on the forty lap A
feature Sunday Vaughn had grabbed both to cap off a historic
run to the championship.
As the
green flag dropped outside front row starter Mike Brown
grabbed the top spot and held the point with polesitter
Vaughn shadowing his every move looking for a way around the
front runner. His chance opened up on lap thirteen as
Vaughn was able to move past, but not to be outdone Brown
grabbed the lead once again only two laps later.
Brown's spot at the front was short lived as Vaughn was able
to work past once again two laps later. The front two
quickly had company in the form of fourteenth starting Steve
Kosiski who had quickly worked his way through the field
charging to the front. The trio of Vaughn, Brown, and
Kosiski diced back and forth for the remainder of the event
taking the checkered flag ahead of Kosiski and Brown.
By virtue
of the win Vaughn completed the run to his third straight
O'Reilly MLRA Championship to go along with his title run in
1995.
