Scott Bloomquist took advantage of Steve Francis' misfortune, and held on to win the 5th Annual CMH Diamond Nationals Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. For Bloomquist, this was his first win at the 3/8 mile oval. Francis held a straightaway lead when his driveshaft broke on lap 44. Bloomquist held the point for the final two restarts as action was furious behind him.

Tyler Reddick, in a Bloomquist Race Car, set fast time and won his heat to start the 50 lap feature from the pole. Reddick lead the first part of the race before Bloomquist passed him. With Scott glued to the bottom, Francis was strong on the top and blew by Bloomquist on lap 21. The event was filmed by Lucas Oil Productions, to be shown at a later date.

The countdown is on for the largest race in the history of the Lucas Oil MLRA. The Inaugural Silver Dollar Nationals takes place this Friday and Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE. This $25,000 to win, $1,000 to start, 80 lap race has the eye of drivers across the nation. To find out more about the event, visit silverdollarnationals.com.
